Code of conduct

Code of conduct

All parish councils have to adopt a “code of conduct”, and Gurnard parish council adopted its 1st code of conduct on 9th April 2002.

Since then 2 revised codes have come into being, with the latest being as a result of the localism Act 2011. The parish council adopted this new Code on 12th June 2012, and it came into force on 1st July 2012.

Individual registers of interest have to be completed by each serving councillor and committee member, and a record is kept of all pecuniary and non-pecuniary interests declared at meetings.

All councillors and committee members make a written undertaking to be bound by the code of conduct when they sign their declaration of acceptance of office.
