At the top of the newly built path through Spencer’s Wood in Gurnard there are two benches set against a hedge on concrete plinths. These benches (plus another two more traditional style benches further round the triangle) all show on Island Roads map – only one pinned. The wood on the seats – especially the one closest to the new path is very rotten and I believe is beyond repair and needs replacement. The first bench – one actually pinned on map may be salvageable. The newly installed footpath through Spencer’s Wood is part of the English Coastal Path and we believe there is to be some sort of ceremony on 17th September. It would be wonderful to have the area looking cared for by that date. FYI Village volunteers will be working on the area and preparing the planter for a facelift on Tuesday 12th August from 11am onwards – in case that day needs to be avoided.
Nearest road to the pin placed on the map (automatically generated by OpenStreetMap): Worsley Road
