I have lived in Gurnard since 1991 when my (soon to be) husband and I bought a house in Albert Road. My son went to school at the ‘old’ school and we shortened his commute considerably when we moved to Hilton Road in 2002.
I worked as a teacher at an Island High School until 2013. In 2014 we bought a boat and so were away for part of the year but when she was sold I really wanted to become more involved with village life; I went to some council meetings and in October 2021 became a co-opted councillor. I became Vice-chair in May 2023.
I believe deeply that we should be custodians of our planet and, on a more local scale, of our beautiful village. I have helped redraft the GPC Environment and Biodiversity Policy, assisted with Gurnard in Bloom planting and am interested in helping Old School Meadow become more wildlife friendly to boost biodiversity. I am part of the Beach Working Party and am currently working to update the Community Emergency Plan.
I hope I am friendly and approachable and that anyone in the village believes I will do my best to listen to concerns and try to follow them up effectively. If you see me up to my knees in the soil of a Worsley Road border – please stop and have a chat.
